Appoint senior directors as aviation agencies CEOs, group tells Sirika

Stakeholders in the aviation industry have called on the out going minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika to write his name in gold by appointing senior directors to the positions of Chief Executive Officers of the agencies.

The stakeholders under aegis of ‘Mission to Redeem Aviation’,  advised that professionals should be allowed to remain in the sector rather than being posted out of it.

The body’s coordinator, Comrade Fidelis Anazie in a statement urged the minister to time to right the wrongs of the past by making laudable appointments.

Part of the statement reads ‘We have been watching with keen interest the way appointments were being made in our highly rated sector but we are yet to get it right. Since this appointments are long overdue, we advise Senator Sirika to pick from agencies and appoint them without delay and without looking outside”

Already, there are strong indications that the Ministry of aviation, has concluded plans to embark on a reshuffle exercise of the heads of aviation agencies soon.

This is barely less than a week before all the Ministers of the Federation hand over to Permanent Secretaries and 10 days to the end of the Buhari’s administration.

Although, an exper said the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) could not be removed with fiat without a recourse to the Acts that set up the agencies.

However, sources close to the Ministry of Aviation, who confided in our correspondent over the weekend, alleged that no fewer than three of the CEOs may be relieved of their appointments any moment from now, while some of the existing directors may also be affected by the impending purge.
