NAAPE suspends picketing of Bristow after Sirika’s intervention

The National Association Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has suspended its picketing of Bristow Helicopters.

 

This is coming after the Minister of Aviation,  Hadi Sirika intervened in the matter that led to the picketing.

 

The NAAPE in a statement also said it will hold a meeting at the Federal Ministry of Labour in Lagos today, adding that the outcome of the meeting will determine their next action.

 

NAAAP had picketed the company for three days running over condition of service and other labour issues.

 

The airline, which alleged that the union refused a dialogue with it as that is the only way to amicably resolve the issues, fired over 100 pilots and engineers of the company on Wednesday, as the union threatened further action if their colleagues were not recalled.

 

“In view of the intervention of the honorable minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika yesterday NAAPE has put on hold the on going Picketing of Bristow Helicopters pending the determination /outcome of the meeting at the instance of Federal Ministry of Labour Ikoyi Lagos today, August 6, 2020 ” , NAAPE said on Thursday.
