NCAT rejoices as Kaduna Govt. helps to reclaim encroached land  20 years after

The management of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has expressed joy over the reclaiming of its land encroached into by villagers, 20 years ago.

In a statement by the Institution,  it expressed appreciation to the entire management of the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KASUPDA) and the Government of Kaduna State, ‘for their efforts and assistance in helping us to reclaim our encroached land, that has been trespassed into for over two decades. After the exercise , 160 houses were affected.’

“We also wish to express our gratitude to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police and all the security agencies that contributed in one way or the other in ensuring the recovery of our encroached land.

“As you may be aware, the College of Aviation Technology, Zaria has been awarded the Regional Training Center of Excellence by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This achievement will go a long way in proving our determination to being the best in providing Aviation Training, as this will create a better atmosphere for aviation Training.”, the College said.

The College said it intends to expand the size of its runway to accommodate bigger aircraft in the nearest future.

“This can be used for not just training but even commercial purposes, which will in-turn provide job opportunities to the Aviation industry and the Nation at large. This will improve safety to the neighboring Community and also help the College in securing it premises against external security threat.”, it added.

For over a decade, the management of the college had been in battle with some illegal land grabbers who have encroached into its land and built within the college’s premises.

As at 2009, Mr. Babatunde Omotoba, the then Minister of Aviation, had planned to expend the sum of N750m to erect perimeter fence on the lands of the college, but the plan did not sail through.
