Northern Nigerian Youths Honour Ethiopian Airlines with Award of Excellence

Africa’s leading Airline was honoured on Tuesday by the Northern Youth Initiative for Peace and Good Governance(NYIPGG) for its contribution to the development of Nigeria.

 

Ethiopian Airlines flies into Kano and Kaduna in the North while keeping a daily Flight to Abuja.

 

The youth led by its President, comrade Abubakar Muhammed, came all the way from Abuja, Kano and Kaduna to present the Award to the General Manager of the airline,  Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen at their Lagos office.

 

A surprised Mekonnen was effusive in her praise of the Nigerian Youth.

“My few years stay in Nigeria has left me with great admiration of the enterprise and the drive of the Nigerian and having the younger generation of Nigerians honouring us as an Airline is a thing of joy. On behalf of my group CEO and the entire team of Ethiopian Airlines I would like to thank the northern Nigerian youth for this award” she said.

 

The NYIPGG president said, ‘ the award of Excellence for  most outstanding airline was in recognition of your immense contribution towards Nation building, human development, educational development and youth empowerment for the benefit of Nigeria at large.

 

It will be recalled that in February ET received the African Leadership award in Lagos and Last month in Port Harcourt the Association for Travel Agents honoured ET.

 

Africa’s leading Airline and the only Skytrax Four Star in Africa was given the highest Award by the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agents NANTA as the most Supportive International Airline Award at its Annual General meeting in Port Harcourt.

 

The Award was presented by the Chairman Board of Trustees of NANTA Steve Isokariri to the General manager of the Airline supported by the Managers from Abuja, Kano and Kaduna.

 

In her Speech, Mekonnen thanked the Agents for their Support and Loyalty to the Airline.

 

“Ethiopian has been in Nigeria since November 1960 and today serves 5 Airports. We have supported Nigeria all through its ups and downs. We have stuck to Nigeria as a brother should. You may recall the Abuja closure experience last year and how we made the sacrifice of going to Kaduna.

 

“For the first time, an African Airline Carried the highest number of Passengers out of Nigeria which is a testimony to the growing relationship between Nigeria and our Airline. We are very Happy to serve Nigerians with the most Modern Aircraft in the World the Airbus A350 and the B787 Dreamliner along with the B777 aircraft. Ethiopian the new Spirit of African is an example of the African spirit of Determination.”
