Reduce cargo charges by 50%, ANLCA tells handling companies

The Association Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents ANLCA has rejected the 80 percent being put forward by the two handling companies in the aviation industry, Skyway Aviation Handling Company SAHCO and Nigerian Aviation Handling Company NAHCO.

At a meeting held Tuesday to resolve the issues between the agents and the handling companies, the companies reduced the charges by 20 percent but the agents insisted on 50 percent reduction.

It was gathered that the agents might have lost over ₦6.billion since commencement of the strike.

Contacted, the vice chairman of ANCLA Mr Davies Ben Chukwunenye said the agents rejected the 80 percent put forward before them adding that the strike continues

Davies said they will only agree on 50 percent adding that there was no where in the world where 100 percent is allowed

Tuesday made it one week that customs clearing agents embarked on strike over the introduction of 100 percent cargo increase.

The two companies have justified the increase saying cost of operations and acquisition of equipment was on the high side.
