…as Emirates Launches New NDC-Powered Connectivity For Trade Partners

Following the agreement reached with the Nigerian government on visa plans, the United Arabs Emirates (UAE), said it will begin the issuance of Visas to Nigerians from October 8, 2020.
The UAE government had last week, agreed to lift the ban on visas to Nigerians after Nigerian government retaliated by stopping Emirates airline from flying into the country.
The plan to now resume visa issuance to Nigerians was announced by Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika on his verified twitter handle @hadisirika on Tuesday night, saying other requirements by the UAE are similar to Shengen requirements.
“UAE confirmed that they will begin issuance of Visas from 8th of October, 2020. Travelers to have a return ticket, hotel booking, negative PCR result & a Health insurance (similar to Schengen requirement). Health insurance can be paid through travel agents/airline” , he tweeted.
It would be recalled that Emirates was stopped from flying into Nigeria two weeks ago due to the fact that the UAE had yet to lift ban on visa issuance to Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Emirates airline said that in order to ensure easy and direct access to the airline’s rich content and other services, it has launched a suite of connectivity options for its trade partners around the world.
With this, Nigeria Trade Partners amongst others, can now benefit from this Emirates Gateway, which was developed using IATA’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) standards, and now available on the recently launched Emirates Partners Portal, a new state-of-the-art- online platform.
Speaking on the development, Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer said: “The Emirates Gateway suite of connection options has been built on new technology and is designed to address the limitations of current legacy distribution systems. Our aim was to create a platform that empowers us to rapidly
develop and deploy new products and services, thereby giving us and our trade partners the ability to offer even more value-added and
differentiated services. It also prepares the way for Emirates to offer custom content and dynamic pricing that better responds to our changing marketplace.”

airline’s trade partners the ability to enhance travellers’ journeys with customized products and services.
Trade partners can connect to the Emirates Gateway via three flexible access solutions:
Emirates Booking Portal: a user-friendly web booking portal available in 12 languages, connected directly to Emirates’ reservation
systems that simplifies the booking, ticketing and post-ticketing servicing of Emirates orders.
Emirates Gateway Direct: which provides access to Emirates content through IATA NDC APIs, allowing trade partners to build applications that meet their needs with expert support from Emirates’ IT teams.
Emirates Gateway Sync: a facilitated link into the Emirates reservation system provided by industry leading, IATA registered, Emirates certified technology partners.
